Education

Education is gradually becoming more important to the U.S. To be a competitive worker, having a high school diploma is a must, and a college diploma a plus. Thus, discrimination at the base level of education - the lack of access to good, free education - disenfranchises POC.

1974 or 2017?

"A federal district court judge has decided that Gardendale—a predominantly white city in the suburbs of Birmingham, Alabama—can move forward in its effort to secede from the school district that serves the larger county. The district Gardendale is leaving is 48 percent black and 44 percent white. The new district would be almost all white."

2017

"The NAACP's major concern is for the education of our children in such a way that these children - whether white or black - will know how to live together in peace, without racial or color bias ruining their lives.
